Here I am with friends in the ex-pat community of San José, Costa Rica in 1984 celebrating the 4th of July at the US embassy. Alas I only remember the two women to my right, Penny, and Yvonne Fultz. We had blueberry pie eating contests, sack races, patriotic music, even a brief pep talk from the Ambassador. It was cheesy and fun....and ain't that America? Happy 4th everyone!
