Fort Stevens 150th Commemoration

Images from my visit to the Commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the Battle of Fort Stevens in the American Civil War.

Lectures were given in various aspects of the history of the Fort and the Civil War.
Ladies in costumes, happy to pose.

A make-shift Field Hospital.
And all of this in the Brightwood neighborhood.

Peering through the cannon hole, I spied an enemy soldier!

Scratched out the part of the original fort that no longer exists.
This cannon was going to be shot off around 2pm...but it was just too hot and humid to wait around for it.

What you see from Georgia Avenue!  No wonder after 20 years, I never knew that it was there!
