I honestly hardly know were to begin. So let me post my thoughts as bullets.
~ No cliff hanger! Isn't that refreshing on a blockbuster TV show?
~ No dicking around with the essence of the episode; before the show was half over, the New Directions had performed and done so magnificently.
~ Emphasis on relationships, not plot, not performances...it's genius to make the most profound aspect of the show it's most important, and not the flashy, musical numbers, which are loved on the surface.
~ Unto us a child is born, and to the montage of Bohemian Rhapsody as if any other experience could be more dramatically operatic against any other more dramatically operatic pop song. The birth of a princess to a queen song.
~ The further humanization of Sue Silvester.
~ And another wacky year of music and mayhem to look forward to that totally fits within the improbable, cruel, gracious, confines of the shows ethos.
It's gonna be a long, lonely summer.....
