Kentucky Coffee is Two!

I grew up in Michigan, I lived in Kentucky from 1979 to 1994 (except for 1984 when I lived in Costa Rica!). I walk my buddy, Romeo, at the National Arboretum here in DC once or twice a month. We usually start out in the area called "State Trees" which has a little cluster of trees from each of the 50 States. This preceded Kentucky dropping the Kentucky Coffee Tree for the Tulip Poplar and so Kentucky's little glen is identified as the state's heritage tree. Two years ago I retrieved a pod from one of the those trees and got one of the seeds to sprout! And here it is changing color for fall. I love my little Kentucky Coffee Tree!
