Romeo: King of Dreamers!

What I'm Reading #'s 57 thru 59

Book Monday!
This one I ordered for myself.

These two were gifts from a friend!

From "Dog Songs" by Mary Oliver.

EVERY DOG'S STORY

I have a bed, my very own.
It's just my size.
And sometimes I like to sleep alone
with dreams inside my eyes.

But sometimes dreams are dark and wild and creepy
and I wake and am afraid, though I don't know why.
But I'm no longer sleepy
and too slowly the hours go by.

So I climb on the bed where the light of the moon
is shining in you face
and I know it will be morning soon.

Everybody needs a safe place.

Today's Sermon

IT IS ENOUGH

To know that the atoms
of my body
will remain

to think of them rising
through the roots of a great oak
to live in
leaves, branches, twigs

perhaps to feed the
crimson peony
the blue iris
the broccoli

or rest on water
freeze and thaw
with the seasons

some atoms might become a
bit of fluff on the wing
of a chickadee
to feel the breeze
know the support of air

and some might drift
up and up into space
star dust returning from

whence it came
it is wrought to know that
as long as there is a universe
I am a part of it.

Stumbling across the work of the Austrian Orientalist painter no doubt contributed to yesterdays foray into Moroccan cuisine.

Moroccan Night!

I substituted chicken thighs for the lamb (cut down the simmer time from 90 minutes to 30), and without any Za'artar, I used a little Oregano.
