What I'm Reading #56

I love, love, LOVE Virginia Quarterly Review.  This issue includes a wonderful article on the work of Gabriel Orozco by Julie Cooke, Emily Raboteau's essay on the idiocyncratic Dutch holiday Zwarte Piet, and a fascinating article on people living off of the grid in the United States by Mark Van de Walle.  There is a great photo essay by Evgenia Arbugaeva of the Russian Arctic.  And my favorite is an essay on poetry as a cultural force by Natasha Trethewey.  It is never a loss, and this issue is all win, every page!
