World Cup 2010.3 ~ Goliath Met David: Result, Two To Two

The most populous nation in the tournament, The United States, ranked 14 in the world went up against the least populous nation, 25th ranked Slovenia, and the gods let them stand 2 to 2 when the vuvuzuelas incessant din faded away. Coupled with the Group C's highest ranked member (8th in the world) England's nil nil match with #30 ranked Algeria, it's Slovenia that leads the group after the second round of play with 4 points, while both England and United States have 2 points apiece and Algeria has 1. The last round pits the United States against Algeria; and if we win, we will move on to a bracket in the sweet sixteen phase of the competition. We hold our future squarely in our feet...and to a lesser extent heads and shoulders and chests, and knees and thighs....

But to be a witness to the joy in cities and towns like Ljubljana, Nova Gorica, and Ptuj, tonight, what I wouldn't give.... The hopes of the nation resting on either a victory or a tie in their round three match with England.
