what I'm Watching #277

"Win Win" is a delightful little film about one man's struggle to survive. He makes a desperate choice, that leads to a web of desperate choices and ends with an opportunity to do the right thing. Around him swirl an ensemble comprised of family, friends, students and strangers who all come to need from him things that he must discover along the course of the story.

It's a very satisfying morality tale acted out by some of the most amazing character actors in the business today. Amy Ryan alone is worth the price of admission. She's the new Laura Linney who was the new and improved Teri Garr. Bobby Cannavale is always a gem as is Jeffrey Tambor. And new comer Alex Shaffer's understate performance is the glue that binds the entire story. While Paul Giamatti is the perfect "everyman". So amazing is this cast, that even last week's Emmy winner, Margo Martindale, has a small, but significant role.

This is a film without the possibility to disappoint. It's generous to its very core.
