2013 Virginia Gubernatorial Race Redux

I am a bit of a political junkie so a couple of maps I made with some analysis of Virginia's Gubernatorial election this past Tuesday. The first shows the county and municipal districts and by the intensity of the color, who won each. Looks like a lot of red, but the story is in the urban areas. Of the top 20, the Democrat, Terry McAuliffe walked away with 17! You just can't win Virginia in Buck Snort Hollow. And McAuliffe dominated Northern VA, the Richmond capital region, and the Hampton-Norfolk-Newport News region. That is the trifecta of Virginia politics in the 21st Century.
 By the numbers:

McAuliffe won with %

Petersburg - 87.7%
Charlottesville - 76.2%
Richmond - 74.0%
Alexandria - 72.0%
Arlington - 71.9%
Norfolk - 68.9%
Portsmouth - 68.3%
Hampton - 66.7%
Williamsburg - 63.3%
Lexington - 62.4% (Home of the Virginia Military Academy)
Newport News - 59.3%
Fredericksburg - 57.8%
Roanoke - 54.3%
Harrisonburg - 52.4%
Danville - 49.9%
Manassas - 48.8%
Staunton - 47.5%

Cuccinelli won with %

Lynchburg - 53.8% (Home to Liberty Baptist University/Pat Robertson)
Winchester - 47.8%
Virginia Beach - 47.6%

This second map sort of just speaks for itself, but gives you an idea of the Urban/Suburban v. Rural divide.
