After being in four of the first six Olympics, the sport was dropped and not reintroduced again until 1972 Munich with a single event. In 1988 Seoul added a second competition, and the following Olympics 1992 Barcelona added parallel competition for women and for men giving us the 4 categories of medals we have today.
