"The Beautiful Christmas Tree"

Another Holiday Children's Book of note is by Charlotte Zolotow and illustrated by Yan Nescimbene called "The Beautiful Christmas Tree". It's a melancholy sort of story wrapped in such sublime beauty. A loner moves into a gentrified neighborhood to redeem the smallest most rundown row house and then plants a little tree that grows into the beautiful Christmas tree. The illustrations are simple and spare, except when it matters most.
