My Zoo ~ Prairie-Western Mountain/Valley Orb: The Design

The third "orb" in the zoo is actually a binary structure was a large "bridge" connecting the two spheres. The ecosystems represented are all from North America: A Prairie, A western mountain pine valley, and a western mountain alpine zone. The width of the entire complex is just over 1.3 kilometers. The smaller orb has a diameter of 420 meters, the larger orb 610 meters, and the bridge covers a distance of 295 meters with a 110 meter wide pedestrian underpass. The smaller orb rises to a height of 140 meters. The larger orbs tops out at 190 meters.

Visitors will discover study centers on either side of the underpass: one for bats and the other subterranean mammals.

The Prairie Western Mountain/Valley Orb is located in the western and southwestern area of the Zoo.
