Kate McGarrigle, half of a popular sibling folk duo in the 1970s and mother of musicians Rufus and Martha Wainwright, died of cancer Monday. She was 63.It's a quirky remembrance in the present age of steel and techno. And certainly her son learned well the lessons of his childhood without remaining locked to them. Perhaps that's her greatest legacy: Rufus. He holds the burden, even as he shares the gift.
