Earth Stamps Issued: Banned Books Honored

I translated my list of banned books into my latest sheet of "earth" postage stamps. The message reads: "READ: Don't Ban! Honoring the writers & readers of banned books" Each title appears twice on the sheet and run the range of denominations from 30 to 75 cents. The titles also cover books banned over the past 200 years, books written for adults, young adults and children. The authors are representatives for thousands of others and include: Maya Angelou, Eve Bunting, Nadine Gordimer, Khalid Hosseini, John Knowles, Louis Lowery, J. D. Salinger, Maurice Sendak, Dr. Seuss, Mark Twain, Alice Walker, and Richard Wright among others. The authors were born in China, France, Ireland, Pakistan, South Africa, Russia and the United States. Book banning is a universally insidious crime against humanity. 

If you don't think a book should be read--DON'T READ IT! Otherwise, mind your own business.

Earth Stamp Honors Dawn

The second in my series honoring the satellites that are exploring our Solar System and beyond. The first honored Voyager I and was issued in 2012 as it approached the known edge of our solar system. This one honors Dawn whose mission is to explore Asteroids and Dwarf planets in the inner system. These are probable sites for human exploration in this century. The image on the left depicts the probe approaching the dwarf planet Ceres which it will do in March of this year. The image on the right is of the large asteroid Vesta which it explored for over a year on its way to Ceres.

Some New Definitives

Working on my latest issue of Earth Stamps. These are my second set of Definitives. Definitives are stamps that come in lower denominations of cost to be used to supplement regular issue stamps. My previous collection features National Parks from around the world. This set will feature examples of world Architecture. The stamps are the first of mine to be designed to be sold in roles. They will be sold in roles of 1,000, 100, 50, and strips of 25, 10 and 5. They will be issued in amounts of 1 to 20¢, and then in various amounts there after for a total number of issues up to 40 unique issues. Here are the first three:

Earth Postage Stamps--World Poets, #4 in a series

 The fourth stamp in this series does to Russian poet, Anna Akhmatova.  She joins Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore and United State's poet Emily Dickinson.

My Earth Stamps: Nelson Mandela Commemorative

 The sheet contains 20 stamps of 4 unique images along with the statement: "Father to a nation, conscience of the world."

The 4 unique images feature Nelson Mandela from 4 different periods in his life.  The images rest on a field of colors inspired by South Africa's post-Apartheid national flag.
