The return walk to my car was through the upper ridge of the Arboretum that included some of it's newest designed spaces and it's oldest original plants.

These purple trail areas are being reimagined into a series of Pacific Rim Habitat Gardens.  It is a work in progress.

The Arboretum is free, the Japanese Gardens costs $6 dollars--well worth the price of admission!

In what has to be one of the odder "seasons" to visits--pre-spring/almost spring--the Japanese Gardens still delights in a thousand ways.  Just imagine what I was unable to include...

Spring Break Redux: University of Washington Arboretum, Part 1

A short drive from my hotel, this mile long series of gardens and points of interest was the perfect way to regain my land legs!  I am sharing my visit there in three parts and will begin with a map of the park to outline my hiking. The first part is highlighted in RED. Unfortunately, I fucked up with my new camera and the first 12 pics all turned out hopelessly out of focus! The first pic is an example. But I'm sure that I still have enough to give you a nice taste of my experience there. Enjoy!
