This recently remastered and re-released in DVD format film of the Franco Zeffirelli masterpiece, "Brother Sun, Sister Moon" is a loose retelling of the early life of St. Francis of Assisi. It is a masterpiece owing to the pure genius of the Italian director. Throughout this 1973 cult classic, the viewer is confronted with visual metaphors, archetypal images, and a soundtrack that personifies all the naiveté and tender happiness of the humble saint of the poor. Even its imperfections contribute to this films irresistible ambiance. It will always shine with five stars in my heart.
