Left the Lied Jungle to rush over to the Lozier IMAZ Theater
to see "Secret Ocean", a film produced and narrated by Jean-Michel
Cousteau about both his legendary father and his own amazing research in
oceanography. It was amazing and
led to the next visit in my time at the Henry Doorly Zoo on my cross-country
Total Eclipse road trip--the Scott Aquarium.
This is a total package aquarium with dozens and dozens of
small and medium tanks, as well as, a couple colossal tanks with deep-sea
species including various sharks and manta rays. There is the presently ubiquitous underwater pass-through to
view these species. Fresh water,
brackish water and salt water habitats are included. I will include only a small portion of the total offering
and limited to my camera's ability--and mine!--to take descent pictures with
limited light and objects in motion...
The journey begins with a large penguin habitat that includes three species: King Penguins, Gentoo Penguins, and Macaroni Penguins.
Overwhelmed, I stopped at some particular places along the visit. The saltwater Mangrove exhibit, a freshwater tropical river, the Jelly Fish area, and the Caribbean Coral Reef. There's an asian freshwater tropical fish tank in the mix, too. But I won't annotate this offering like the other ones.
