Iceland has just issued a set of three stamps depicting the eruption of Eyjafjallajokull volcano. You will recall how it's spewing of ash into the atmosphere shut down Europe's airspace for the better part of a month.
And here's the cool thing, Iceland found a way to basically glaze each stamp with a tiny amount of the very fine grained trachyandesite ash that fell at Eyjafjallajokull. They hired a high tech printing company, Enschede, in the Netherlands, silk-screened the ash onto the stamps. Pretty nifty, eh?
