Spring Break Redux: SAM, part 3 of 8

 This section of the museum features works from the other side of the Pacific and two beautiful rooms of works by Australian artists called Billabong Dreams.  It was for me a revelation.

 Left: "Mundukul at Baraltja" 2008, and Right "Baraltja" 2009 by Gunybi Ganambarr

Both of these works are done by carving ridges in eucalyptus bark with natural pigments.

I was struck by the similarity between this painting and a 15th century Incan Pancho in the collection of the Dumbarton Oaks Museum here in Washington, DC.

 Chinese Ceramics, Korean pots and Japanese baskets were the featured works in the Asian Galleries.

The Japanese Tea House was quite beautiful.
