This week polls indicated a shoring up of support for President Obama in several key battleground states: Michigan, Ohio, Florida and especially Pennsylvania.

- I was born on a bitterly cold end of January night in the year 1961. It was seven years to the day after the birth of Oprah Winfrey, and one year before the death of Robert Frost on that same day.
